FAQs

A captivating after dark, illuminated trail.

Set to ambient music, you will follow the trail as it meanders through the historic Coombe Abbey Park. Stunning lighting elements and light play will guide you along the way, punctuated by approximately 13 wow moments/highlights.

The trail is approximately 2.4km long and (depending on how quickly you walk through) will take circa 60-90 minutes to complete.

Warm up by our fire pit, where you can toast marshmallows (purchase your marshmallows on site or bring your own marshmallows and skewers) and indulge in some of the food and drink offerings available to purchase at the Kiosk in the Park.

Please note that the entire trail takes place outside (obviously during winter and after dark). It will be cold, dark and often wet! Please wrap up warm and wear sturdy footwear.

Please note we will not have 'traditional festive' decorations at Luminate and Father Christmas will not be there - he'll be far too busy getting everything ready at the North Pole!
There is a path all the way around, marked by festoon lighting throughout the duration. So just follow the festoon!
In order to ensure your own safety and enjoyment (and the safety of our other visitors and staff), all visitors must remain on the clearly marked trail at all times. All children and vulnerable adults must be closely supervised at all times. Luminate takes place in the winter, after dark in a country estate setting. All areas other than the clearly defined trail will have potential trip hazards and risks to health and safety, which may be difficult to see during the time that Luminate is operational, so please stay on the path at all times and adhere to any instructions/advice given by our stewarding staff.

Please note that there are areas of unfenced water located off the trail at Luminate Coombe. Please ensure all children and vulnerable adults are carefully supervised at all times.

Conditions on the trail will be continually monitored by our onsite team, but we would remind all visitors that the event takes place in an outside, country setting over winter after dark. So please exercise caution when attending and supervise children and vulnerable adults at all times.

Some of our lighting installations are interactive, so you can enjoy some light play throughout your journey with us. All such installations will be easily identifiable and will have stewards stationed close-by to guide you with what to do. For your own safety and enjoyment, please do not touch any other lights/electrical installations and ensure children and vulnerable adults are supervised at all times, so as to ensure that they do not.
For the safety and enjoyment of all our visitors, dogs are NOT permitted at Luminate*

*with the exception of Guide dogs and assistance dogs

NEW FOR 2024 - We have 2 dog days, when you can bring your dog along. Look for the dog symbol on the calendar

On the 2nd and 9th December only, due to popular demand we are excited to allow dog owners to bring their dogs along to Luminate. This is only permitted on 2nd and 9th December and on all other dates dogs are not allowed at Luminate.

Our furry friends are welcome on those 2 nights, provided at all times their owners follow the rules below:

All dogs must be accompanied by a responsible adult and remain under the supervision and control of the responsible adult at all times.

1 dog per adult max

As with all two legged guests, dogs must remain on the clearly marked footpath at all times.

Dogs must be kept on a short lead at all times - no extendable leads please.

Dogs must not be left unattended at any time.

Any dogs behaving aggressively (including towards other dogs) will not be allowed to enter the trail or will be asked to leave. Luminate reserves the right to refuse entry or to remove any dogs we feel are dangerous/a safety risk to other dogs and visitors or any which are causing a disturbance and disrupting the event for other visitors.

Please be a responsible dog owner - clean up after your pet and use the bins provided.

Thank you in advance for co-operating with these rules to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment. Failure to comply with any of the above rules will result in your dog being denied entry/removed from the trail.

*** XL BULLY DOGS** Please note that you must provide proof of a Certificate of exemption before attending with a banned breed. Please email a copy of the certificate along with proof of insurance and your order number to [email protected]. In line with current legislation your dog must be muzzled and kept on a lead at all times.

You know your dog best, Luminate is a fun filled magical element, with flashing lights, smoke effects, loud music and lots of people. If your dog is likely to be unsettled/distressed /aggressive because of any of this, please do not bring them. #dog days
